I live in Yogyakarta now — moved here for university and somehow never left. The city has this gentle rhythm that suits me. Mornings usually start slow: I make black coffee, sit by the window with my phone, answer a few messages from clients, then open my laptop to check orders. I run a small online shop selling handmade earrings and minimalist accessories. Nothing huge, just pieces I design and a friend helps produce. It keeps me busy but not overwhelmed, and I like that I can work from my tiny rented room most days.
After the shop stuff is done, I usually switch to music — lately it's been a lot of Pamungkas, Tulus, and some lo-fi beats when I need to concentrate. I have this habit of putting one earbud in and leaving the other out so I can still hear the neighborhood sounds: kids playing, the ojol motorbikes, the occasional call to prayer. It feels comforting somehow.
Evenings are quieter. I cook something simple — mostly nasi goreng or whatever vegetables I have — then watch a movie or scroll through Instagram until my eyes get tired. I catch myself thinking about how strange it is to be surrounded by people online but still feel a little alone sometimes. Not in a sad way, just… human, I guess. I miss having someone to send random thoughts to at 11 p.m., or someone who’d ask “how was your day” and actually listen to the long version.
